“Source of Truth” is the somewhere we can point to together and define and agree on as our shared truth. What stands there is our truth. If someone disagrees with that truth we can take the discussion to come to an agreement to update or modify our truth based on new input, perspective etc.
Its purpose is to together understand where we can find the most agreed upon truth in a project, when we need it to have access to what we need to do our jobs.
We can have multiple point of truths destinations for different project contexts.
- An example of a Source of truth is this entire Thrivbe notion wiki. It should represent everything that has been decided and defined so that everyone can find the most updated version of what we all know.
- Another example is the overview section on each Asana project. This should contain the project brief with all accompanied information and resources everyone on a project need to do their part in the project, when they need it.
- Another example is depending on which phase we are in a project/process we might for example work on different tools. Lets say we are in a creative process on miro trying to define a concept. Then that miro board would be our Source of truth so we have a shared understanding of the importance of what is on that board. And if someone has new ideas / perspectives they would have to go into the miro board to add / move / delete what is already there.
